About

HEARTS in HOMES society

This is a non-profit society that I am in the early beginnings of creating. HEARTS in HOMES is intended for people who are in need of a helping hand up with their homes. I am prepared to donate $50.00 from each of my sales transactions to this cause. I will also be inviting my peers at Prudential to meet or beat my donation at each transaction. I will circulate a memo to all other up and running organizations in order to invite them to put forward clients of theirs that are in need of this assistance.
Hearts in Homes is happy to assist those people that are in need of minor home repairs, needed updated appliances, needed furnishings (cribs, beds, kitchen tables...etc). These clients will most likely be senior in age, single parent families or just simply people who are having a tough time making it in these turbulent times. Everyone should love going home.
I have always believed in the saying “Quality of Life is not measured by what you have but rather by what you give”.
I hope you will support me in this cause. I am passionate about people and want to do my best in helping however I can.

Sincerely,

Staccie Bracken-Horrocks

A story about one of our Prudential peers. BERT WAUGH

Waugh Honoured with GOOD NEIGHBOUR award.

Bert Waugh, broker-owner of Prudential Northwest properties is proof that one person can make a tremendous difference by giving back to his community.

Waugh, winner of REALTOR(R) magazine’s Good Neighbour Award, was honoured for his work in founding Transitional Youth, a non-profit organization that provides housing, outreach and support to young people who otherwise would be living on the streets.

Waugh has had passion for helping children for decades, which is one reason why he founded transitional Youth in 1991. The organization initially raised funds to support other local agencies, but today it helps children via an outreach centre and three group homes. It also sponsors programs designed to get children off the street, find jobs or go to school, with the eventual goal of functioning as a successful adult.

“Kids are our future and helping them realize their potential is more important to me than anything else I do”.

Transitional youth has a yearly budget of $475,000.00 which is raised entirely by private contributions. Approximately 600 children have benefited from the program over the years. Waugh says that fundraising is a big challenge and he is always recruiting volunteers and getting busy with whatever work needs to be done.

“I’ve seen volunteers break down in tears describing their experiences helping these kids”. Waugh said. “One woman took her granddaughter there to see what it was like and now they are botj regular volunteers”.

The Good Neighbour award program, now in its eighth year recognizes REALTORS(R) who have made an extraordinary commitment to improving the quality of life in their communities through volunteer work. This year , five winners chosen from more than 320 nominations, received $10,000.00 grants for their charitable organization.
